The chemistry between Norton ( Art Carney) and Ralph is legendary, and it was Gleason's dislike of rehearsals that always provided fresh spontaneity. The brilliance lies in the comedic relief mined from such an outwardly bleak existence. But it always reconciles with a chagrined Ralph expressing his appreciation for her.
